There are two main types of equipment for adsorbing gold by activated carbon: one is a gold-containing heap immersion liquid through a fixed activated carbon layer from top to bottom, that is, a fixed bed adsorption system. The other type is that the gold-containing heap immersion liquid passes through the carbon layer at a certain speed by the pressure of the pump, so that the carbon layer is in a boiling state. The choice of these two types of equipment depends on the turbidity and solid content of the leachate. For fixed bed systems, it is required that the leachate should not have suspended fine materials before entering the tower. Because the fixed carbon layer is like a sand filter, the slime and suspended fine materials will block the carbon layer, resulting in the adsorption system not operating normally. Therefore, fixed bed systems generally require periodic recoil, but the advantage is that the amount of gold loaded on the activated carbon is higher, so the required carbon is less than the fluidized bed. In the actual heap leaching operation, most of the latter equipment is used to complete the adsorption of gold by activated carbon. There are four factors to consider when designing a second device:
First, the feed liquid flow rate (determined according to the amount of leachate discharged from the heap leaching operation every day).
2. The amount of precious metal produced on average per day (determined by the maximum content of each batch of discharged solution in different operating periods).
Third, the maximum amount of gold loaded with activated carbon.
Fourth, the type and particle size of the activated carbon used.
The activated carbon adsorption tower designed by the nuclear industry has a cone bottom at the bottom, and the side wall of the tower body is equipped with a sight glass. During operation, the movement of the liquid and activated carbon in the tower can be observed. Generally, 3 to 5 towers are operated in series, and the tower and the tower are connected by a rubber tube, and the number of valves used is small. The activated carbon adsorption tower designed by the Research and Consultation Center of the Gold Mine Heap Leaching Technology of the Ministry of Geology and Minerals is basically similar to the equipment designed by the Nuclear Industry. The bottom of the tower is mostly flat-bottomed and easy to install. The tower and the tower are connected by hard pipes and valves, including the washing water pipe and the washing water discharge pipe, and the valves used are more.
